3D Printers at Fellesverkstedet
Currently we have three 3D printers at the Fellesverkstedet, all of them are original Prusa i3 MK3. The difference between the MK3 and MK3S model lies primarily in an improved design of the extruder in the MK3S series. They have a print size of 24×20×20 cm
The following picture names some of the basic elements of the 3D printer. Make yourself familiar with the machine before using.
Getting started
To get started with 3D printing is quite easy:
- Open the PrusaSlicer software and Import a 3D Geometry File (preferably a STL or STEP file). You can find many interesting example files on Thingiverse or simply by googling. Or just take a file that you created yourself.
- Prepare the File for 3D printing by selecting correct filament settings and pressing “Slice now”. This will convert the geometry into Paths for the 3D Printer. read more here..
- Save the generated G-Code File to a SD card (Each 3D printer is already equipped with its own card) and prepare the printer for operation.. Then select "print from SD" in the printer menu and choose the file you want to print.
Hurray!
Remember that a 3D printer is a production machine, that requires maintenance and can experience failures of different kinds. Therefore please be careful with the equipment, read further instructions on our wiki or the prusa website.
