Checklist startup
- Make sure you have a firesafe working environment to work in at all times. Meaning there’s no flammable materials, objects or chemicals in the area you will be working and surrounding doors are closed so no sparks can enter other rooms.
- Make sure you’re not wearing any clothes that can easily set fire. There’s fireproof working jackets available at Fellesverkstedet which can be used as well.
- Check where the nearest fire extinguisher, fire blanket and fire call point is and make sure these are free from obstruction.
- Make sure there’s enough time for letting things cool down before leaving (an hour). This means that during regular opening hours no welding or plasma cutting can be performed after 16:00.
- Orient yourself with where the emergency exits are located. The metal workshop has 2 exits: the staircase to the ground floor and the window to the backyard which has a foldable ladder on the wall to help get out
- Remember during production to always consider where potential sparks will fly or where hot materials are placed. Better safe than sorry.
Checklist closedown
