The laser cutter (GCC Spirit LS) is part of the machinery available at Fellesverkstedet and can cut & engrave materials such as paper, plywood, veneer, leather, sticker foil, acrylic, felt, rubber. It is being used for producing prototypes and architecture models, cutting out wristbands, creating stencils, engraving skateboards, cutting puzzles that can be assembled in 3D, etc. Search online for more inspiration of the possibilities of the laser cutter.
Laser size: The cutting area of the machine is 640 mm by 450 mm. How thick it can cut greatly depends on the material you are trying to cut. For instance, it's possible to cut through 8 mm acrylic but it won't easily cut through 2 mm solid oak. The laser cannot cut through metal, ceramics, glass or stone, but it is possible to engrave (most of) them.
